Know About Level 3
The Advanced Open Water Diver certification is an intermediate level certification in recreational scuba diving. It is designed to expand your knowledge and skills beyond the basic Open Water Diver certification. The Advanced Open Water Diver course consists of both classroom and practical components.
During the course, you will complete five adventure dives, each focusing on a specific area of diving. These adventure dives can include deep diving, underwater navigation, night diving, wreck diving, peak performance buoyancy, underwater photography, and more. The specific adventure dives may vary depending on the dive center or instructor.
The classroom portion of the course will cover the theoretical aspects of each adventure dive, including dive planning, equipment considerations, safety procedures, and environmental awareness. You will learn about the potential risks and how to mitigate them, as well as techniques specific to each type of dive.
The practical component involves applying the knowledge gained in the classroom during actual dives. Under the supervision of a certified instructor, you will perform the required skills and demonstrate your understanding of the dive concepts. This hands-on experience allows you to gain confidence and proficiency in different diving scenarios.
Upon successful completion of the Advanced Open Water Diver course, you will receive a certification card that recognizes your increased knowledge and skills. This certification enables you to dive to a maximum depth of 30 meters (100 feet) and opens up more opportunities for exploration and adventure in the underwater world.
